This year's opening round for the WeFXD Ultraman Uphill Sprints is definitely one of the craziest, most intense rounds we have had in the history of the series. Over 500 in attendance, 104 registered racers, 8 qualifying heats, one neck-to-neck finale. Round one was stark raving mad, one night could not handle all the insanity.
First time in Ultraman history that a race was cut short due to all the madness, despite having all the necessary permits to have the road closed down. Back in May, we only got to cover the Open categories won by Jeff Monton and Macy Atangan, and the first two heats won by Jemuel Tiongson of The Project and Joelito Delima of Mandaframa.
But we are bound and determined. In June we came back stronger and were able to finish all remaining heats. Finalists for the first round were by JJ Arinas of UPFXD, Gerald Bitara of PadyakCool, Basti Cuerdo of CgeFXD, Renz Cartilla and Geng McCulley of WeFXD, and Geph Villongco of The Project. Jemuel Tiongson bagged the round, another first in his years of competing in the race.
