With the development of today's technology, more and more materials are available on the internet. Young athletes today have the advantage of learning advanced training methods from browsing through the web as compared to earlier years where professionals are the only ones who can take advantage and enjoy training beyond a common person's knowledge.
Ace Sports Group, ASG, is a distributor of sports goods based in Singapore. Quickspeed on the other hand is a brand carried by ASG. The young team former Team ASG and now called Team QuickSpeed Philippines, founded by brothers Carlo, Iñigo, Lorenzo, and Angelo Pimentel collaborated with ASG to build the racing team and promote the brand in the Philippines. Composed of riders not older than 30, with youngest aged fourteen, utilize today's technology to experiment on their training methods. Having the tools to measure each rider's wattage, speed, acceleration, and power, these tools aid them in focusing in what each rider needs improvement on.
Brothers Iñigo and Lorenzo were based in Singapore for a couple of years back. During their stay there, they were able to work with Ace Sports Group, Quickspeed, and Athlete Lab where they learn most of their training tools.
Teaching something new is always difficult. There are times the kids would feel like they lack training, magriride parin sila kahit rest day. Kaya kailangan mo pang sabihan, magpahinga ka ngayon." (Teaching something new is always difficult. There are times the kids would feel like they lack training, they would choose to ride during their scheduled rest day. During then, you'll have to tell them off to follow rest day)
"Hindi enough and magride ng magride. You also need to rest and have other means of training." (Continuous riding is not enough. You also need to rest and have other means of training.)
Iñigo aims to train these potential future professional riders with advanced training methods from what they learned in books, the internet, and of course from Athlete's Lab.
The team has competed in The Tour of Matabungkay in 2013 and 2014. The team is set to compete in Indonesia and Singapore this coming May 2015.
