Weekends are usually blocked for long rides up the mountains or country roads. Some ride hundreds of kilometers, some enjoy long climbs, some hunt Strava segments. But for most roadies around the metro, they take these days to train hard through friendly competition to test their limits, learn from the veterans, and also race alongside our local pros.
One venue for these weekend criteriums is at the C5 Extension in Las Piñas, more popularly known as the Golden Haven Criterium. Started in 2004, veteran riders around the area have been organizing this race for more than 10 years. This long stretch of concrete road used to be closed to the public, which made it perfect for fast-paced races. Pop-up shops can also be found along the stretch, selling new and used bike parts.
Just a reminder, whether you're a veteran or new to the Golden Haven Criterium races, make sure to follow the race guidelines to keep it safe for everyone using the road. Races are scheduled every Wednesday and Saturday at 9am, and Sundays at 7:30am.
